Makalu Base Camp Trek

Trek follows the trial in Makalu Region. Makalu, the world’s thirth highest peak, is situated in the high heart of the eastern Himalayas which radiate seven valleys. The Barun Valley treasures some of the last remaining pristine forests and alpine meadows of Nepal. From its bottom the Himalaya rise to the snow capped tip of the Makalu peak which is 8,463 m high within a 40 km distance. Within this wide range of altitude it contains one of the most diverse packets of the plants and animals.

Apart from this The Makalu-Barun National park and Conservation Area also lies in the foothills of the Makalu peak where different ethnic groups such as Rai, Sherpa and Shingsawa farmers live there and preserve the unique biodiversity of the place. The Makalu-Barun area is little known to most tourists due to its relative inaccessibility. But those few hundred trekkers and mountaineers who visit each year come away with an unforgettable experience.
