What is Trekking?

Trekking is simply walking; it is traditionally applied to overland journeys made on foot. Trekking is the multi-days joyful walking trip enjoying the scenery of rural regions, rugged hills and valleys. From one place to the next you walk mostly on reasonable trails with only some tome encounter on snow. The walking days on the trek are from 4 to 6 hours each day. Trekking is not the climbing or mountaineering so no need climbing equipment for trekking.

Trekking can be done anywhere in the world. Several areas are particularly popular with travelers, including the mountainous regions such as the Himalayas in Asia (Specially Nepal)

Trekking in Nepal can be done shorter 2,3 days to longer a month. You can do different levels of trekking from easy to hard, mostly easy treks are shorter walks following well traveled trails through villages with facilities for trekking, every day walking 4 to 6 hour and maximum height of 2200m, medium grades treks involves some steep climbing can be organize both on teas house and camping styles, some time longer walking also needed 8 to 9 hours, trekking with longer time will be fore harder trekking and it is in more remote places, there will be longer day mostly camping styles trekking

Who can trek?

No special degree of fitness is required and age is no barrier, except in the areas over 3000m altitude where extra care should be taken. So any one, with a pair of strong legs and the spirit for adventure to explore the exotic will enjoy the thrills of trekking in the hills of Nepal. Normally for weary trekkers we have a list of short, easy and exotic treks and for the experience trekkers we offer a longer trek with lots of excitement and adventure.

First Time Trekking

Generally the Trekking in Nepal Himalayas are easy and following good paths with well trodden routes, Nepal most popular trekking routes like Everest, Annapurna and Langtang are well supplied with tea shop and lodges and the trails between these are well used and present easy walking conditions. We have Short easy to Long difficult trekking . You can choose the trek as per your time and fitness level. Normally our trekking allow plenty of time to comfortably complete the itinerary. To ensure that everyone is in good shape on the steady ascent to the trail like Annapurna Base camp, Everest Base camp, Throngla pass and other trekking, all of our trekking itinerary includes an acclimatization days. This ascent presents no real difficulty and should be within the capabilities of fit and active hill walkers. However, there are couples of quite long trekking days and it should be noted that trekking at altitudes above 5000 meters is necessarily strenuous.

 

Trekking is physical but certainly not beyond the majority of people. The main thing is what sort of experience you want to have from the trekking. You want to reach the center of the great white peaks or you want to pass through villages with many different ethnic cultures. Or you want to get away from it all and disappear into the remote mountains or you might just wish to see a glorious mountain view with little exertion. Another consideration is how much time you have and in what season you would like to trek. Or 3 weeks to a month treks higher passes often close from December to February due to excessive snowfall but 1 to 2 weeks trek can be done easily.

 

While you are in trekking, walking through the trail after few days body and mind will become completely adjusted, so that it seems this is all one ever meditating with attention put on every step. Take out of yourself in powerful landscape where for centuries holy men and pilgrims have lost and found themselves leaving. The villagers of the Himalaya help reveal all that remains hidden during the every day existence.

 

You are advices to start an exercise program. If you don’t exercise regularly, start. Aerobic fitness is a key factor of a comfortable trekking experience; if your body is used to physical exertion, you will be less likely to suffer from exhaustion or injury. As many as six months before your trek (depending on your level of physical fitness), aim to start a program of regular physical activity for an hour per day, five days per week

Trekking in Reality

For the first time trekkers trekking in the Himalaya can be a different experience, each day you walk into countryside free from roads. Villages caught in a time warp abound, their terraced fields stacked up huge hillsides. The paths are timeless pilgrimage routes, trails between villages or tracks to high grazing pastures

the trekking usually starts 7:00 am, you will be served the breakfast in your guest house during the tea house trekking and breakfast is served at dining tent in our Camping trekking, after light breakfast bread, jam, Muesli, Porridge, boiled egg, tea or coffee depending on your choice., we set off on the day’s walk. After walking for 3-4 hours we stop for lunch at around midday. The afternoon’s walk is generally shorter and we usually arrive at our destination in time for afternoon tea. The remainder of the afternoon can be spent exploring the village, doing a bit of washing or simply relaxing with a good.

There is time enough for spotting wildlife, photography, chatting along the way and relaxing over lunch or a refreshing cup of tea.


The practical aspects of trekking are surprisingly easy. In the villages and along the way of tea houses trekking lodges, meals are ordered from menus in English. Alternatively, on a trekking tour 3 course meals are served by your crew. Normally for breakfast bread, jam, Muesli, Porridge, boiled egg, different local breads, pancake, tea or coffee depending on your choice is served, for lunches and Dinner different soups, typical Nepali food Dal Bhat, spaghetti, lasagna, macaroni, different types of curry, pizza and other foods will be served, So trekking is really little more than a pleasurable ramble through quaint villages, gazing in wonder at the terraced hillsides and wandering amid incredible mountain scenery.

When to Trekking:

September to November

This is the best trekking season in Nepal and officering excellent weather and outstanding mountain views. The weather is very pleasant and clear and the mountain views are the best. Early October through to late November is the busiest period for trekking and all the guest houses are fully booked.

It usually does not rain for more than one or two days during the entire autumn season and days are comfortable and in the evening are cool in Kathmandu and Pokhara recommended light warm clothing. rhododendron  March April May

This is the second finest trekking season and less crowded on the trekking trail. The temperature is quite moderate; especially the rhododendrons are in complete blossom and the mountain views are excellent. The temperatures are mildly warm in the lowlands and little cold at higher altitudes and the sky is clear and the mountain views are best

 June July August

This is the most preferable season to trek in the rain shadow areas like Mustang, Upper Manang and Dolpo, Simikot. These places are out of reach of the rain clouds because of the huge mountains and are unaffected by the monsoon. This season is also recommended for forest researchers and botanist. Like wise Tibet high arid plateaus are ideal for summer trekking, The Annapurna regions Jomsom part also significantly less rain areas and short trek in this areas are recommended

The advantages of summer trekking is you will find the trekking trails and villages have few trekkers and you can enjoy the solitude and beauty of the mountains without any crowds

December to Mid February

The weather is cool and the sky is clear with occasional snowfalls at higher elevations, the air is tinkling sharp and the stars have that crystal twinkle. This season is best for trekking in lower elevations generally below 3200m. The weather is at its finest and direst, great condition, in the mornings and nights are cold but daytime temperatures are mild when it is sunny. Low altitude trek to Annapurna region, Langtang Helambu region, Everest region and village tours. Even Everest base camp can be organized in winter.

The advantages of winter trekking is you will find the trekking trails and villages have few trekkers and you can enjoy the beauty of the Himalayas without any crowds

A Typical Day on Tea House Trekking:

Usually our day on Tea house trek starts around 7:00 am, you can order the breakfast in your guest house, after light breakfast bread, jam, Muesli, Porridge, boiled egg, tea or coffee depending on your choice. After breakfast, we set off on the day’s walk. After walking for 3-4 hours we stop for lunch at around midday. The afternoon’s walk is generally shorter and we usually arrive at our destination in time for afternoon tea. The remainder of the afternoon can be spent exploring the village, doing a bit of washing or simply relaxing with a good book. After dinner, the evening will often be spent playing cards and reliving the day’s adventures, before retiring for a well-earned sleep. Other day activities are the same as mentioned above.

Food on lodge Trekking:

When we are in Tea house trekking we eat at local teahouses and, The food are hygienic and are usually plentiful and delicious, They offer a variety foods, for breakfast, Toast, different styles of eggs, pancake, porridge, Muesli with milk, and other creels, For lunch and dinner, variety of potato, different curries, rice, noodles and pasta, pizza, spring roll, Nepali food and others food, as well as soup and seasonal vegetables. Snack like biscuits, snicker and Mars and other chocolates, basic biscuits and soft drinks are available, you can find seasonal fresh fruit also in some areas.

Camping trekking

With the establishment time we offer a fully supported trek as a complete package. Our most of camping treks take to the remote areas where foreigners enjoy the real local culture, breathtaking views of Himalaya , we used quiet village’s trails that lead us through terraced rice fields paradise, magnificent forests and ideal valleys rarely found by other Trekkers. We provide trained staffs who escort your trek are friendly and humors. English speaking Trekking staff, Guide/Sherpa Sirdar, who will provide you well information and introduce you to local culture, flora and fauna. Accommodation is in the form of luxury tents, which are put up at the end of each day by Above the Himalaya Trekking ‘s expert porters who carry the equipment from place to place throughout the trek with the help of pack animals, You carry only day pack with you drinking water bottle, camera, pullover and anything you think you may need during the day, Our professional cook prepare three time meals a day (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).He is well trained & educated of hygienic variety, He has broad knowledge to cook different dishes, like Mexican, Indian, Chinese and Italian and all are prepared to Western hygiene standards to keep you healthy. Nepali, Indian, Mexican & Italian dishes prepared in typical way.

In the Camping trek, Accommodation is in the form of luxury tents, which are put up at the end of each day by Above The Himalayas expert Sherpa’s. We will provide all the trekking gears such as tents, mattresses, sleeping bags, toilet tents, kitchen tens, kitchen utensils, and so on, In our Camping trek the tents provided are ‘Two men dome’ or ‘A’ shaped. Foam mattress with insulation underneath is provided for sleeping. Clients need to have their own sleeping bag. Bags or cloth packs are used as pillows. If you wish, you can bring your own ‘Air pillow’, A guide will have employed to handle the whole trekking program, All meals will be prepared on the way using the fresh vegetables available in the surrounding area. 

Usually in our Camping trek you begin your day with a hot cup of tea which is served to you in the tent at 6 am, followed by a bowl of hot water for washing, after a light breakfast bread, jam, boiled egg, tea or coffee depending on your choice will be served. When you are enjoying the breakfast, our support staff packs up the tents and equipments and move ahead to find another suitable place to prepare food for lunch. After walking for 3-4 hours we stop for lunch at around midday. After lunch, the last of the day’s trek is done which usually takes 1.5 to 2hrs of walk. The remainder of the afternoon can be spent exploring the village, doing a bit of washing or simply relaxing with a good book. Our support staff will put up the tents and will start preparing dinner around 7:00 pm the dinner will be served and the day is ends After dinner, the evening will often be spent playing cards, dancing and singing by your staff and reliving the day’s adventures, before retiring for a well-earned sleep

Accommodation during the trekking:

While you are doing Tea house trekking in Nepal , does not need tremendous logistics in terms of accommodation as you will find plenty of clean and friendly lodges along the trekking trail. We get plenty of clean and friendly nice mountain lodge (Tea house), we stay in single rooms where possible but while you will be with your partner you will have twin or double bedded room and some time you will have to share the rooms also. Rooms are basic, normally just a bed with a pillow and blankets. A few have electric lights and all have a spacious dining room-lounge. We will accommodate you and your group in local lodge available each day. Please remember that some of them are very basic and a sense of adventure is necessary. In a big group we will send our assistant guide or one porter to book the required room in advance.

Food during the trekking:

During the camping trekking, expeditions and safaris, we will offer you always fresh, organic and hygienically prepared food which is served by our private cooks. You can have wonderful international dishes, ranging from Italian, Mexican, Indian and other western foods. Of course we can also offer you typical Nepalese food! We always use purified water for washing vegetables and fruits, and for washing dishes and glasses. During treks to high altitude we will adjust our food offered with suitable food to prevent altitude sickness and to provide a healthy nutrition. Beverages include Nepali tea, coffee and hot chocolate.
